The Pete & Thomas Foundation is dedicated to addressing the significant challenges faced by college students and public school educators as they navigate financial hardships, limited technological resources, and rapidly changing professional landscapes.
Powered by Toyota, the P&T Best in Class Award will help support accomplished and driven public school teachers and college students.
This award will recognize exceptional individuals by providing financial assistance to help them pursue their educational and professional goals. Five college students and five public school teachers will receive $5,000 grants.

Who is eligible for the Best in Class Award?
- The applicant must be a current public school teacher or college student within the United States.
- Public school teachers must:
- Have a minimum of 5 years of experience at a public school (K-12)
- Provide proof of a professional development course/certification
- College students must:
- Attend a two or four-year college
- Have a minimum of 2.7 (B-) GPA
- The applicant must demonstrate financial need.
How much is the grant?
- The Best in Class Award is $5,000.
How many people will be selected for the Best In Class Award?
- Five public school teachers and five college students will be selected.
What is the deadline for the application?
- February 11, 2026 at 11:59pm ET
What is the review process, and are there requirements for consideration?
- The selection committee will review all applications following the deadline. The only step for consideration is a completed application, and the individual meets the eligibility criteria. Recipients will be notified via email.
What are the requirements for individuals receiving the Best in Class Award?
- Individuals who receive a Best In Class Award will be required to complete an additional questionnaire and provide an update on how the funds have supported their educational and professional development goals.
How will funds be dispersed to recipients?
- For college students, the grant payment will be sent directly to the educational institution.
- For public school teachers, the grant payment will be sent directly to the professional development institution, or supplies for classroom instruction will be purchased on their behalf. Public school teachers must include a plan.
